Beneath the Bark: An EAB Parasitoid Release
- August 17, 2018
5:00pm - 6:00pm
Parasitoid wasps, natural enemies of the EAB, will again be released at The Arboretum to combat the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has battled this borer in Ohio since 2003 by increasing detection ability, improving regulations, and doing public outreach. Staff from the USDA Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) will share a brief update on the insect’s status in Ohio and discuss new biological control opportunities before going outside to release the wasps. Adults and/or larvae will be released during the program. These are stingless wasps, very small, and there is no chance of anyone being stung.
This program is free to attend but registration is recommended.
