Arboretum for All

We are committed to creating a place where people of all backgrounds, identities and abilities feel connected to nature and valued as part of our community. Our efforts include:

• Accessibility – Ease of Access: Removing physical, financial and informational barriers so everyone can participate in The Arboretum experience.
• Belonging – Connection to Community: Ensuring visitors feel recognized, respected and valued as part of The Dawes Arboretum's community.
• Diversity – Reflecting Many Voices: Welcoming people of different cultures, identities, backgrounds and life experiences.

Continuing the Work

The IDEA-B (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Belonging) committee is a staff-led effort dedicated to helping The Dawes Arboretum grow as a place where everyone feels welcome, valued and connected. Since 2022, the committee has supported learning, conversation and action across the organization, ensuring that creating an "Arboretum for All" is not just a goal, but an ongoing practice. Activities include:
