On Monday, April 8 more than 500 guests joined The Dawes Arboretum to witness the historical 2024 solar eclipse. The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology and The Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks were also in attendance presenting the effects behind and science of the eclipse. While Licking County wasn’t in the direct path of totality, we were still able to see more than 99% of the sun covered.
Visitors brought their lawn chairs, blankets and even their four-legged friends to claim their spot in the eclipse viewing event. The Arboretum provided glasses to everyone before the astronomical show began. This rare phenomenon brought families and the community together to share this amazing experience in total awe. We are so grateful to have been able to host this event and share the remarkable moment in time with all who visited!
