This Dawes Maple Syrup Day, you’ll see some of our staff walking around sporting two colored beanies: blue and pink, decorated with a stylish new logo. This logo celebrates our multi-year celebration as we head toward The Dawes Arboretum’s centennial in 2029.
This logo has many colors that tell our history as an organization. Decorated with four different colored leaves, the colors all represent something different from the story of Dawes.
- Blue & Pink: “Pure Oil Blue” and “Bertie Pink” anchor us in our first century and in the people who planted our first seeds. “Pure Oil Blue” honors the legacy of founder Beman Dawes, referencing the industry that helped make his philanthropic vision possible. “Bertie Pink” honors Bertie Dawes, cofounder, that adds a deeply human touch as a reminder that The Arboretum began as an act of love and generosity.
- Forest Green: This bur oak leaf is another leaf in addition to our current logo, symbolizing the growth of The Arboretum over the past 100 years.
- Logo Green: This leaf is a nod to our current logo, honoring the past 96 years while looking forward to the future and promises of The Arboretum still to come.
This isn’t a replacement of our current logo, but just the beginning of our four-year celebration as we honor the past and look forward to the future.
The perfect way to join this celebration with us is to join us at our 60th Dawes Maple Syrup Day! For more information, please read here.
