This spectacular praying mantis is located next to our Parkwoods Trail. It is 18’ in length, 20’ in width and 2’ in diameter. The sculpture is made up of carved black locust and the overall weight totals 1200 pounds!
Did you know? Mantises are masters of camouflage. Our native Carolina mantis comes in gray, brown and green helping them to blend in with their surroundings, but there are species in other areas around the world that would look exactly like a dead leaf or orchid flowers.
