Did you know we have programs specifically for home school students, as well as programs for Girls Scouts, Cub Scouts and American Heritage Girls? Families travel from all over Central Ohio to attend our classes while exploring the diversity of the natural world. We would love for you to join in on the fun!

Home School Programs

With our Home School Investigations, home school students come together to supplement their science curriculum with hands-on experiences. Students learn the basic principles of ecology and biology with 90-minute sessions taking place both indoors and outdoors.

We have programs from students aged 6-10 years on the second Tuesday from 1:30-3pm and second Friday from 10-11:30am each month from September to April.

For students 11-13 years old, we offer programs that allow them to practice critical thinking, analyze and interpret data and use scientific tools in our hands-on environment.

More details on each program and registration can be found on our calendar. Admission is $5 per student for member families (Hickory Level and above) and $7 per student for non-members.

Scouting Outings

It’s always an adventure when Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and American Heritage Girls are learning about trees and nature through our programs the Arboretum. Some of the programs include observing animal specimens, studying plant life, going on a maple syrup tour, hunting for a geocache or venturing on a day or night hike!

Our scouting outings provide troops the opportunity to bond while getting unique experiences around The Arboretum. We have many opportunities already scheduled on our calendar for Cub Scouting Outings and Girl Scouting Outings. However, we also offer private programs for your troop. For a customized program, please contact Beth Spieles at or 740.323.2355.
