The winter season at The Arboretum is full of wonder and excitement - view beloved summer locations and witness them in the stillness and serene setting of January and February.
Must See Locations
When you visit this winter, be sure to view our Conifer Glen for unbelievable views. Our holly Hill’s combination of red berries, white snow and evergreen trees is hard to resist. The area is a haven for overwintering birds providing amazing shots for the cell phone photographer in all of us.
The witch-hazels near the main parking lot, which bloom during the winter, also got a best spot mention. You can also visit and climb our overlook tower to view a larger portion of The Arboretum.
Wildlife in Winter
We have quite a few visitors in winter, including northern cardinals, Carolina chickadees, ruby-crowned kinglets, golden-crowned kinglets, various woodpeckers (downy, red-bellied, pileated, red-headed), northern mockingbirds and many others.

While we believe every day is a great day to visit The Arboretum, our normally quieter days are Mondays and Tuesdays.

Always Keeping Our Guests In Mind
Many areas of the grounds are fully accessible anytime of the year. In winter, if we are experiencing any snow on our paths, our staff will diligently keep them clean and safe for our visitors. If we experience any ice, we will utilize ice melt to keep the parking lot and walking paths safe as well.
