Rejuvenation Pruning

April 4, 2015

As a deciduous shrub ages, more energy goes into supporting the older, woody stems and less into producing flowers and fruit, which reduces the shrub's ornamental appearance.  By performing rejuvenation pruning in early spring, vigorous new branches are encouraged, resulting in increased production of flowers and fruit as well as getting rid of that “leggy” look.  Learn methods of when, where and how to prune and also how to recognize a shrub’s particular pruning category.
