What

Experience the great outdoors at night as we attempt to attract a variety of nocturnal insects using special lights. Moths, beetles, flies, praying mantises and others may visit our sheets for a close-up look.

This program takes place at The Arboretum's Red Barn Area on Davis Drive, just west of State Route 13.  Please note that our main grounds close at 8pm. Park in the Red Barn Area parking lot and follow the boardwalk back to The Red Barn.  For directions, call (740) 323-2355.

What

Executive Director, Luke Messinger will lead a walk down the Dawes Lake Trail through our woodlands and to the South End of the Arboretum. The Woodland Garden, Pershing Avenue, flowering shrubs, Dawes Lake and the Conifer Collection will all be highlighted.

What

Cool off in the heat of the summer as you explore water environments throughout The Arboretum.  Catch a fish, learn to paddle a canoe or kayak, dig-in to wetlands and wade into a creek -- splash into all things aquatic!

These programs, designed for children ages three to eight, keep the body moving and brain exercising as science is combined with games, crafts, stories and music. Activities are held on Wednesdays (June through August 9).

Wednesday, July 26, 2017: Water Birds

Listen to calls, identify adaptations and seek out water birds at the pond.

What

Take a guided tour of the Daweswood House Museum, once the country home of Arboretum co-founders Beman and Bertie Dawes.  See and hear the history behind antiques and memorabilia from the Dawes family.  A house highlight is the "Rathskeller," a basement area that displays shovels used by over 100 notable men and women who dedicated trees at The Arboretum and features their initials and signatures on the ceiling.

Tours available from 12pm to 1pm and 2pm to 3pm.

Adults: $2     Children: $1     Members: FREE

Purchase tickets in the Visitors Center.  Please call ahead to confirm tour times.

What

The Red Barn, a waterside campfire and sunset views will be the backdrop for this gentle flow yoga retreat with a Sage Yoga instructor. Immerse your senses and move with your breath as the sun dips to reveal the night sky and we make space to journal, draw, write or simply be. Practice will be followed with snacks and conversation.
